Desert Trails - Tucson

It was a bright and sunny day when we departed the Escapees Dream Catchers RV Park in Deming, NM.

We left about 9:30 AM because we wanted to see what the Saturday Pancake breakfast was like. We had pancakes, juice and sausage and spoke briefly with Dennis and Sandy from North Dakota. They have a new Allegro Bus so we compared notes. Then we hooked up and were on our way.

Pam drove quite a bit again. I tried to log on and do some work but I couldn't access the server.
So I took it easy until we changed drivers at a Rest Stop.
Then it was on to Tuscon. The desert is really beautiful out here. And I didn't remember that the evelvation was so high (4300+feet) this far south in Arizona. There are quite a few mountains near Tucson as we got closer.

We were headed to Desert Trails RV campground. We picked this one based on our friends Bill and Marty. The campground has been a work in progress over the years. At one time it was a waterpark.
Today it is an active RV park with lots of folks staying here. I think they have 300 sites. Our first impression was very positive. The lady who checked us in, Andrea, was very helpful and let us find get a campsite we like. She juggled things around to give us a few options which was nice. Sometimes that doesn't happen at campgrounds...you get what is left and that is it. Andrea worked with us. Plus she gave us maps of the area and showed us key spots in town that we are interested in seeing. I told her that she just gave us one of the best orientations we have had at a campground. :)
We found a campsite that backs right up to the desert. The hiking rail is 20 yards away, the cacti are nearby and the birds are happy.
We are going to enjoy this place!
The sunsets make you want to take a lot of pictures...

Hope you enjoy your Sunday and thank you for viewing the Roadrunner Chronicles! See you next time!
