Good Day Sunday

We were up early to make one last daily run to McDonald's.  I decided to change things up a bit and got a sausage and egg breakfast burrito with my senior coffee.  Joan got her regular sausage biscuit and Diet Coke and then we were back at their house (Joan and Mike's) on a Sunday morning.  We watched some Bill Gaither music on TV (is he still around?) and also saw a local preacher who did a good job on the subject of faith.  Which of us don't need more of that (faith)?  And the right kind of that (faith)?

Then before we knew it Pam was up and letting the air out of the mattresses in our 'bedroom' which traditionally has been Joan's living room.  After rolling them up and packing the car, we said our good-byes.  We were out the door a little before our planned 7:00 AM departure.  Mike and Joan were there to see us off and we rolled out of their driveway at 6:35 AM.

It was an overcast day for most of the drive and it was uneventful.  We stopped for lunch at a Taco Bell and gas.  We stopped another time on the trip for quick break at a Rest Stop.

The good news is that Pam is starting to feel like her old self again.  Lunch didn't produce any issues with her mouth and gums.  I think those are almost healed.  Interestingly, most of her head and neck and face has been peeling the last few days.  And her lips are finally getting back to normal.  One of the issues of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is that it acts a lot like a bad sunburn on the skin.

We're very thankful and glad Pam is healing and things are getting better.   Thank you all for your prayers, notes and words of encouragement on her behalf the last few days.  It helped and we really appreciate your concern!

The nine hour 550 mile drive from Maynardville, TN to New Hudson, MI went pretty quickly and the traffic was moving well.  I surprised myself and had no issues driving the whole way.  Usually when I am the only driver on a trip that long, I have to take a 20 minute siesta but not yesterday.

When we got back to the Roadrunner, we cleaned out the refrigerator.  While we were gone there was a 15 hour power outage at the campground that resulted in some food getting spoiled.

Then, I ran over to the grocery store and got a lot of fruit and some milk and a couple frozen dinner entrees that worked out fine.  We watched the Women's NCAA semi-final softball game and Tennessee lost to University of Arizona.

I called around and it seems the $97 or $99 iPhones are no longer available.  It didn't seem like that great of a deal at the regular price so I decided against it.

Over the weekend, the basketball world lost a national treasure ~ Coach John Wooden.  I was a little surprised at the outpouring of love and admiration of the man.  He was old school and believed in character.  They mentioned his 'Pyramid' that served as a basis for his philosophy of success.  I looked it up and saw two versions that I found interesting.
When you hear greats like Bill Walton and Kareem-Abdul Jabbar talk about how he coached and how he taught 'life lessons' based on character, it makes one do a double take.

Adam returned from a few days with friends in Toronto and he stopped by to see Meghan's parents in Petrolia before he arrived at the campground.  We talked with Kelly in Dallas a couple of times yesterday to catch up on her weekend and see how she is doing.  Then we called it a day and went to bed.

Big week ahead:  more doctors appointments and some online work the next few days.  Thanks for joining us today on the Roadrunner Chronicles!

And thanks too to all the regular viewers (and new ones too!).  If you are not yet a 'Follower', take the time to add yourself to our growing list and help us get to 200!  Only 92 to go!

  2. That's great news about Pam feeling better. The only "good" thing about being sick is how much getting back to normal is appreciated!

  3. So glad Pam made the trip with no problems and you all arrived home safely. Sending our best wishes and prayers for continued improvement till Pam is back to normal.
I do believe Bill Gaither is still around but many of his original singers have passed on. They were a special group and we (Mike & I) miss them on the show. We love their songs/singing and feel so uplifted by their music.

    Take care,

  5. Good to hear Pam is on the upswing!

Glad that someone let you know the campground had a power outage. When food defrosts and refreezes you might not have known that either.

A good hint is to leave a dixie cup of frozen water in your freezer. Once it's froze, set a penny on top. If when you come back after a long absence from your trailer, and the penny is now at the bottom of the cup, you know you had a power outage and the food in the freezer is now compromised.
