We were staying at Lake Louisa State Park and it is about 30 minutes to ESPN Wide World of Sports/Disney Park where the Braves hold their spring training. It did not look promising when we started out.
The rain was coming down lightly but steadily when we arrived.
It let up for a few minutes.
And there were plenty of empty seats.
And then it really started coming down.
And folks hung out under the stands for a while.
A big cheer went up when the finally pulled off the tarps around home base and the pitchers mound.
While we waited for the first pitch, I saw the General Manager of the Braves, Frank Wren walk by. He was nice enough to stop, shake hands and let us get a photo.
And we had time for a shot of us
And talk with some of the vendors like
Like Jamey who is a college student and part of the Disney University college session. He works a Disney for a semester and gets full college credit and gets to learn how they run their business. Nice young man from Georgia.
And we got to see some players we recognized.
And the managers.
Another great day at the old ball game.Who is your favorite MLB team?
Thanks for joining us on the Roadrunner Chronicles! Thanks for joining us. Until next time...
We use to go to the park and watch the Ranges play but then it got to costing so much that we stopped going. We just watch everything from home now and save all that money for food LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing we miss about this nomadic lifestyle that we have is baseball. Our son played college ball in the U.S., and we loved going to Florida for his spring training. Took in a Boston Red Sox spring training game once. Great fun!
ReplyDeleteMaybe next spring we'll try and arrange to be in Arizona at this time and take in some games!

I have to just starting following your blog and it looks like you folks are having a great time. We have the truck and 5th and the plan is to become full timers as soon as my husband retires and that (I hope) is soon.
ReplyDeleteI am not much of a baseball fan but if I had to pick it would be the Blue Jays since we live in Ontario. My sport of choice is Nascar!!
Safe travels!!
I love NASCAR too. But we lived just south of Atlanta so go Braves. We were great fans until the big strike in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteNice anniversary and so glad it turned out to be a nice day!
Thanks for sharing your day at the park. Bring on the peanuts.
ReplyDeleteEven though they don't do as good as we wish, he still root for the Kansas City Royals.
Looks like a fun filled day in spite of the rains!
ReplyDeleteNationals all the way! Got to see a few games last season up in Washington. We paid way too much (but wanted to be there) to see the final game in the series when they lost to the Cardinals.
ReplyDeleteWanted to get over to Spring Training in FL this year, but doesn't look like it's going to pan out.
Despite the weather it sure looks like you had a great time. John is from Chicago and loves the Cubs. He says it is the curse he was born into. Maybe someday....:)
ReplyDeleteWrigley Field is a great place to watch a baseball game and the hotdogs are delicous.
