The meeting is actually being held at Tom Johnson's Campground which is off I-40 in Marion, NC and 40 miles east of Asheville.
There are a lot of RV's here and we are packed pretty close together which is typical for a rally I suppose. The guys did a good job of getting everyone in and lined up. We got registered and checked in and got to see some friends from projects we had been on. Among the folks we saw first were Joe and Francis Kossan and George and Rubeye Russell.
They were on our very first project in Pontiac Illinois last year. We got to see Joe and Francis again during our time in Galveston last December and again in April.
Sunday and Monday were mostly a social time and registration for folks arriving. The festivities kicked off last night with a program of singing and skits and jokes based on the 1980's TV show "Hee Haw".
They did a good job with it and we all had fun. Today we have some meetings in the morning and some tours lined up in the afternoon.NOMADS has been a real source of encouragement to us during the last 15 months of our full-timing adventures. We have met some great people and we get involved in a lot of projects that help different communities throughout the country. I think the current number of members who volunteer in NOMADS is around 1100 people.
We are off to a good start here and are looking forward to the next few days before we head out on Friday.
Thanks for joining us today on the Roadrunner Chronicles! We appreciate your comments!
Looks like a really neat gathering.

When you participate in NOMAD projects, like you folks do, it seems like a great idea to go to the annual meeting. Looks like a good time lined up for everyone. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone should have fun at a Rally, it's you Nomads for sure after all the hard work you do and the people you help. So, hee-haw on for a few more days.
ReplyDeleteThe Nomads sound like a great group of people doing good deeds all over the country...Glad you got to experience their meeting....and thanks for all you do.
ReplyDeleteWe have been so inspired from talking to you and reading about your NOMADS projects. We signed up at the Escapade Rally and will be completing our first project in Florda this winter.
ReplyDeleteMany blessing to you! Thank you so much,
Carol & John
