Megan and Mark's Wedding in Houston

We drove to Houston for Mark and Megan's wedding.  While Kelly and Megan and the girls were getting together we were able to spend dinner with a couple of our favorite nephews along with Darrick:

We enjoyed a great meal at Papacito's.

Next, we had a lunch date with the bride and maid of honor at Ninfa's on Navigation at it's original location near downtown Houston.

The area of town is not the best but the lunch crowd showed up early and it was full.  We grabbed a table on the outside patio had tacos and could see why it is such a popular place.

Megan's grandmother had lunch for Megan and the bride's maids the day before the wedding at 'My Cup of Tea'.  What a unique idea.

I had never heard of a tea party but it was a great time for all the ladies!

Later in the evening, we made it over to Carmelo's which was absolutely an excellent venue.  The Italian food and service was terrific.

It was fun to get to know some of the Stuckey and Zeiler families.  It was a interesting to hear the toasts and stories and all the well wishes.  The slide show was well done and provided plenty of entertaining anecdotes of Megan and Mark growing up.

It was a fairly large group and many had flown in from all over the country to be party of the happy event.

After a late night we got up the next morning and helped out by loading up cartons and crates of beverages (beer, wine, soft drinks) to take over to the reception location later in the day.

 They had an evening wedding at the Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston.  Pam was able to take a few photos of the ladies getting ready.

 The entrance of the wedding party started exactly on time and it was a beautiful ceremony.  The music, the setting, the beautiful brides maids and maid of honor, the guys...it was really a memorable event for all.

 After the ceremony, it was time for pictures and we stayed a little while before heading over to the reception.

 The Gallery was another nice setting and there must have been a couple of hundred people at the reception.  The fajitas were a perfect choice and lots of folks sat and talked and celebrated the happy event.

I was able to get one last photo of Megan, Kelly and Rachel.  Megan and Mark are now honeymooning in Hawaii and will be living in Austin, TX.

It was fun to see Kelly and to see her as the Maid of Honor.  We had to leave the reception before the end of the festivities and got up on Saturday morning to take Kelly and Marion to the airport.

After we said our goodbyes, we went back to the campground and headed east on I-10 for Moss Point MS.  We didn't have to refuel and only stopped to switch drivers a couple of times on the 425 mile trek.

We arrived at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church, Moss Point before sun down.  There are RV hookups on the property and we joined six other couples.  We are looking forward to NOMADS Disaster Relief work here the next few weeks.

Big Day in Canada

We were at Rod and Lisa's house again and didn't have to leave until about 10:00 AM.  Adam arrived about 9:45 AM and we loaded the bags and drove to Port Huron.  We filled up with gas and crossed the border into Canada about 10:15.  We found a Starbucks in Sarnia and had a cup of coffee and went over to Meghan's parents house in Petrolia about 11:30.

We met her brother and fiance, an uncle and aunt and had a very nice lunch.  They put on a very nice spread.  It was the first time Kelly got to meet everyone and our first time to meet her brother, his fiance and uncle.  They are all wonderful people and we cherished our time with them.

Later we watched the NCAA tournament and Duke pull away from Kelly's alma mater - Baylor.  We decided to stay in Petrolia and then went across town to Tully's Bed and Breakfast.  It is a wonderful old house that has been fully restored.

We will be going back over to see Meghan and Adam and her mom for a while before we get back and fly out of Detroit Airport later this afternoon to Houston.  From there we will drive on to Galveston where we have our RV.  We will be finishing up the week with NOMADS before departing on Friday.

Lady Bears Undefeated

Pam and I went to Baylor with Kelly to watch her play in the Alumni/Lady Bears lacrosse game. It has been an annual event that started eight years ago. We had a few extra moments and took a quick tour of the basketball/special events building. Kelly's graduation was held there in 2004.The current team is just starting their season and this was their first scrimmage. I felt bad for the alumni because most haven't touched a stick in months. Still, the alumni jumped out to a 3-0 lead. By halftime the score was even at 4-4. The alumni came back late in the game to tie it at 8-8.
Among the cheering fans on the sideline were Sheay (one of Kelly's current roommates) and some friends who also went to Baylor. It was a very entertaining game. The alums were a bit winded but they kept firing at the net and making goals! The refs were talking about overtime and the alumni put a stop to that! They were happy with an injury-free tie game.Afterwards the Lady Bears passed out game shirts to everyone and all posed for a group photo.Then the alums wanted one of their own.Later we joined quite a few of the girls and their families and friends at Crickets, a bar and restuarant in downtown Waco. Since it was Homecoming Weekend and the football game was over (Oklahoma State beat Baylor 34-7) most places were crowded.
After dinner we took a driving tour of the campus. They have done a lot of building over the last few years and Baylor is striving to become a top tier university. It is a beautiful campus. One of the hot spots on campus is Common Grounds. It is an amazing coffee shop on campus. We stopped there before we started out on the 2 hour drive back to Dallas.

We took Kelly home, spoke a little with her roommate Meesh and went back out to our campsite at East Fork Park, near Wylie. That concludes another post in the Roadrunner Chronicles. Thanks for viewing.
