Florida Campsites

We have had a wonderful time in Florida this winter.  We have gotten an appreciation for some of the National and State parks/campgrounds. After our Habitat for Humanity gig in Macon Georgia last November we came to Florida. We have been here over three months.

Here's a look at the places we have camped since then:

A. Sumter Oaks, Escapees Park, Bushnell, FL
B. Bowling Green HFH, FL
C. Big Cypress National Preserve
D. Everglades National Park, Flamingo, FL
E.  Sigsbee Campground, Key West Naval Air Station, FL
F. Mikasukee Casino parking lot
G. MacDill AFB FamCamp, FL
H. Gulf Waters RV Resort, Ft Myers Beach, FL
I.  Sun-N-Shade RV Resort, Punta Gorda, FL
J.  The Resort Escapees SKP Park, Zolfo Springs, FL
K. Cloverleaf 4H Campground, Lake Placid, FL
L. Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont, FL
M. Lake Griffin State Park, Fruitland Park, FL
N. Falling Waters State Park, Chipley, FL
O. Oak Grove Campground, Pensacola Naval Air Station, FL

Our favorites:

Sigsbee Campground Key West
Gulf Waters RV Park - Ft Meyers Beach
Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont

Our average cost for campground sites was $22.46 per night.

How about you?  What are your favorite campgrounds in Florida?

Thanks for joining us today on the Roadrunner Chronicles!  Until next time...

  1. Nice review of where you been to put them all on a map! Great idea and then you can log your impressions, favorite site, which site you would like next time and the costs.

    1. I thought about doing that but it is a lot to keep up with. Instead I post campground reviews at:http://www.rvparkreviews.com/
      and here:

  2. Missed you in Lake Griffin...Thanks for the list of parks...We intend to get there again next year!!

  3. We're with you on Sigsbee, but Fort Wilderness is waay up there on our list, too. :c)

  4. We like Emerald Coast RV Resort in Panama City Beach and Live Oak Landing in Freeport.

  5. We stayed at Emerald Coast RV Resort in Panama City Beach for 6 weeks and really enjoyed it. We also like Topsail State Park in Santa Rosa Beach.

  6. Favorite in FL so far have been Pelican Roost at NAS Mayport and Fort Pickens near Pensacola, which we picked over Oak Grove. I'm going to pin this for future reference as we hope to spend more time in Florida in future winters.

  7. Hillsborough River State Park should be way up there on the list too. It is one of our favorites. Thanks for sharing!
