Yesterday was the last day for us working with the NOMADs on this Revolving Team Projectn(RTP). An RTP is associated with Disaster Relief and the amount of time spent working can be approved by the team lead. Usually a NOMADS project is three weeks. We had some free time and Marley Walker, the team lead was glad to have us for the last 10 days.
We had a great time and learned a lot. We finished up our time at the Ward house were we finished cleaning the tile in the bathroom, painted the baseboard and molding, and gave the whole bathroom a new coat of blue paint.
I like the goal of the disaster relief projects. It is to get owners back into their homes as quickly as possible. Safe, Secure, Sanitary. Many disaster victims have been out of their homes for the last 14 months. Each day or month we daudle over some minor details could mean substantial rent dollars they may have to pay out. In most cases that is money they don't have.
It is important we work efficiently and get the job done as soon as we are able.
Yesterday, John and Harry (pictured) installed one of the two window air conditioner/heating systems. Dan came over from the other house and got it hooked up and it worked great.
After we completed work at the Ward house for the day, we dropped by another house where other team member s are working. It was in considerable better shape although there is a lot of work to be done.
For now, they are laying a new floor across the entire house. It was going down well and they were progressing nicely.In the evening Pam and I had two other couple over to chat. We spent time this Dan & LaJuana and Arlin and Susan. It great to get to know them a little better. Hopefully we will see them again at another NOMADS project.
