The weather has been pretty great in Tucson this year. And we invited Kirk and Susan to join us from cold Oklahoma City, OK. They flew in on Friday and we hit the ground running. First, a picnic and then off the Desert Museum.
On Saturday we were hoping to get in some golf, but it rained most of the day. Unusual for this part of the country this year. In fact it was the first rain of the year! They needed the rain. But it put a damper on the golf.
So we opted for plan B. We had a leisurely breakfast and took our time 'getting with it'. Then we went downtown and did some shopping. First to REI and some other stores. Then over to El Guero Canelo restuarant for their first 'Sonoran Hot Dog'.
Next, we took a windsheild tour of Tucson and drove around different parts and historical parts of the city.
Then the skies cleared for a while. By the time we got back to the campsite, it had quit raining. We changed quickly and drove over to the golf course on base.
Good news/bad news.
It had been raining there all day and the course was closed. But the guy closing up said we were welcome to play at our own risk and use pull carts. Sounded great!
Off we went.
Not surprisingly, we had the course to ourselves.
Good thing we had our rain gear....before we putted out on the first hole it started coming down again.
And the rain clouds rolled in again and we went right over to the 18th tee and played our second and final hole in the rain. Ugh. That was the end of our golf day.
Next we went back to the Roadrunner, put our clothes up to dry our and just hung out for a while before we decided to open up the Roadrunner Alleys (Wii Bowling).
We had a lot of fun playing that and it still surprises me to bowl on this thing with about the same results that I used to have with the real deal.
We coordinated with Judy and met her at Guadalajara for dinner. It was Saturday night and a little busy so we had to wait awhile for a table.
We had been here before and I remember they made the salsa fresh on a cart that rolled up to your table.
And they had a mariachi trio moving through the restaurant.
They stopped at our table and sang a couple of songs that were just excellent. A real treat!
We had an excellent meal and great time.
Thanks for joining us on this edition of the Roadrunner Chronicles! Until next time...
Is this what the RVing lifestyle is like. We want to do that! ;c) Nice post.
ReplyDeletewhew.. that was a short game! but a great evening of good food and friends makes up for it!
