He also trained at what is now Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque.

Based in England, Dad flew a CG-4A on the invasion of Holland, Operation Market Garden. Though the mission failed, Dad safely landed his glider, which was carrying a jeep and 6 Polish Infantrymen, and he made it safely back to England. The CG-44A is a wood framed glider, a full replica of which is in Lubbock.tmellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10235071407883855061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8886120447635133317.post-49636587873946542182010-04-14T15:47:46.432-04:002010-04-14T15:47:46.432-04:00Interesting post, Randy, lots of great information...Interesting post, Randy, lots of great information and pictures. For sure a lot of famous people did enlist and serve in the armed forces during WWII - a lot in actual combat too. I don't think that former President Ronald Regan, even though he was a Captain, ever left the continental United States though.Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16523089898331291694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8886120447635133317.post-73505533977417850732010-04-14T14:28:00.291-04:002010-04-14T14:28:00.291-04:00I have been to the Wright Patterson AFB Museum per...I have been to the Wright Patterson AFB Museum perhaps ten times over the years, and never tire of the experience. We are slated to attend again this May during the Dayton HamVention, amateur radio show. For those that have never been there it is on your life list (or should be) of things to see in the USA!Rod Ivers https://www.blogger.com/profile/11622769861928590585noreply@blogger.com
